Black gums help?
Darker tissues/gums CAN be due to genetics. These areas are what we in dentistry call dark pigmentations.

I can't see your mouth to tell you if it's a natural healthy tissue or infected tissue (periodontal/gum disease). Usually bacteria changes the texture and color of tissues, and you can reverse this problem by having deep cleaning at your local dental office, and then following the instructions your dentist gives you to maintain good and healthy gums. Again, this only applies IF your gums are infected and need cleaning.

To be absolutely sure, only your dentist can diagnose and explain to you what you need to know about that black areas you described.

Good luck
