i was told that bleeding gums are common during pregnancy..but my gums are pretty much not connected to my teeth and it really really freaks me out..
i got a soft bristle too brush to see if it would help..they arent sore, theyre just coming away from my teeth and bleeding a lot..
please reassure me that this is common!! or if it happened to you, do you have any suggestions to help this?? its really starting to worry me!!
Bleeding gums?? for current pregnancies or past pregnancies!!!?
While you are pregnant your body experiences many hormonal fluctuations. The changing levels of hormones in your body can affect your oral health as well as many other areas of health. Specifically, these changing hormones make your gums more sensative to plaque. If you become pregnant while you already have gum disease, pregnancy can intensify it. While you are pregnant, it is especilly important to practice good oral hygiene.
Increased blood flow through the body will often make the gums swell. This also increases your vulnerability to gum disease. Additionally, during pregnancy most pregnant women have some bleeding of their gums, particularly while brushing or flossing. You may also notice that your mouth produces more saliva during pregnancy.
Reply:mouth/gum problems are very common during pregnancy, thats why its more important than ever to continue to see a dentist throughout your pregnancy.
Reply:soooo normal!! mine bleed like crazy with my first two children and im waiting for them to start again with this 1!!
Reply:yep....this is common, just get a mouthwash for gingivitus! I work in a dental surgery, and when i told my boss, the first thing she said was about my gums getting sensitive!
Reply:sorry it's just another fun part of of pregnancy.... just keep brushing and seeing your dentist..
Reply:i have light bleeding...but its more than what i saw when i wasn't pregnant.
i would just go to your dentist....i am sure he or she would help and at least put you at ease
Reply:mine bleed too everytime i brush lol
Reply:My gums bled with all my pregnancies.
The only thing I did was to brush softly and more regularly.
Reply:go visit your dentist. they will be able to tell you if your degree of bleeding is normal and what you can to do help it. it is very important to continue dental care during pregnancy because the shift in hormones can wreak havoc on your oral health if you aren't careful.
