I have a gap which was first placed with a implant that didnt take, which now I have an bridge. My gums arent coming down onto the bridge to make it look more natural. Also, surround gum lines look alittle uneven as well. My orthodontist told me I will need gum restoration or something. I dont know what he called it, and my original dentist said "If that gum doesnt come down, i'll make it come down".
How do they do that? Whats it called? Is it surgery? How much does it cost?
Basically, give me the "down low" on it lol, please?
Gums uneven?
Me too

Reply:Yes it is surgery, any opperation of the mouth is considered that. Most should be covered by you insurance however, you will spend a little bit. Or he/she could just make other one go up, it all depends on conditions
Reply:im not sure how they will bring it down but probably to make it even they will laser some gum off.
Reply:Basically the surgery is quick, outpatient work and is not too painful. The inside of your mouth is made of epithelial tissue. They will take some from the roof of your mouth and implant it around the tooth to give your natural gums a boost.
If you have dental insurance it will pay for it. If you do not, then I honestly cant tell you what to expect to pay. It varies from dentist to dentist. However, I am sure that if you dentist wants to do this surgery you need it. I have a friend who had the surgery with great results. She was able to talk and eat fine shortly after the surgey, and really didnt have much of a problem with pain.
It really isnt a big deal, you will be fine! Lots of people get it because they brush their teeth too hard and have to have their gum line repaired. Dont worry about it!
