hello
my 21 month old son's gums look whitish just where the teeth comes out, i don't know how to explain better, i mean the spot right where you could put a tooth pick between your teeth and gum. i only noticed it on the lower gums.
is that normal? can you check your babys gums and tell me, wether they have it too??? i always thougth it should be red like the rest of the gum, but maybe it looks like it because the teeth shine through.
thanks
Color of gums?
If they're tiny white raised dots, it's probably thrush. They're generally the size of a pencil dot, and they are often scattered throughout the inside of a baby's mouth. You need to see your doctor or pharmacist to get an antifungal medication to treat it, and you need to be treated at the same time (it is very contagious and spreads quickly via breastfeeding--and often even through just touching).
If its an elongated white line at the top of the gum, it could be a tooth working its way out. It could still take 2-3 months for it to actually appear, so it doesn't mean that she is about to get her first tooth.
Reply:It could be that his gums are really thin and the white color is from the tooth showing through
Reply:If he is cutting teeth, you probably are just seeing the teeth start to come through. That's going to cause the gums to be thinner on the top.
