Brushing teeth/ bleeding gums?
I would go back to your orthodontist and show him the problem. He can definitely fix it, and it is better to spend more money than to have to have part of your gum stuck between two brackets for the remainder of your braces. I would not leave it there, it might cause something in your mouth. If you cant go back to the orthodontist, make sure to be very gently with it. Chew mostly on the other side of the mouth, brush lightly (but still brush) over it, and keep it the way it is. If you really want to try, you could try to push it out, even if it bleeds a little. You really just need to see what your best option is. Good luck, I hope this helps!
Reply:Flossing is the answer. People are a lot less likely to floss when wearing braces (because it really is a pain), but not flossing allows your gums to actually grow down (or up) your teeth. It's normal even if you brush regularly.
Next time you see your Orthodontist ask him for some of the plastic flossing needles and how to use them. It will hurt the first couple weeks as your "pushing" your gums back down your teeth (and they WILL bleed), but just stick with it and floss a couple times a week afterwards.
Reply:you need to have your orthodontist fix it
Reply:Go see your orthodontist. They should take care of it for free if they have good customer service. Best wishes!
Reply:Leave it alone. This may not be abnormal. If it has been like this for a reallly long time then it could be just overgrowth of the gum tissue. If this is new, then it could be inflammation (reddened, tender to touch, etc.). Inflammation can be caused by various things, such as brushing too hard, crunchy food, food getting stuck, etc. If this is the case, rinse with warm salt water for a few days. This should resolve the problem. If not, you should see your dentist.
Reply:Well I've had braces too and know what you're talking about. You probably had something stuck there and didn't even notice and what happens is your gums start to swell up and bleed when you brush. Just keep brushing like you do and try a good mouth wash to add to you routine. (crest pro-health) If is doesn't go down and stays the same for a while, next time you go to the orthodontist let him/her know since it could lead to something else. (gingivitis or plaque)
Reply:I had braces for years and I still remember the pain. Having braces can make your gums more sensitive, which may explain why your gums are bleeding. Or worse, it could be gingivitis, which causes bleeding gums. Brushing after every meal is recommended because braces "trap" food particles and that leads to decay. Give it some time, and try not to obsess about it. Your teeth will look great afterwards. Ask your orthodontist even if you think it's a picky question, he/she will help you. Good luck!
Reply:umm floss....but that made me second guess on getting braces. ive always wanted them...but now....uhhhh....i think you know what im thinking.
Reply:think why are you eating candy with braces, why dont you suck on some rocks for real pain, your parents are spending thousands of dollars on you, seems to me you dont care or listen to the dentest. man go to the dentest have him fix the problem. and pay attention to him
Reply:bleeding gums can be symptoms of gum disease. gum disease if left untreated usually attacks the whole part of the mouth and eventually affects the other system of the body like the heart causing it to have health problems like heart ailments. always maintain good oral hygiene and have regular dental checkup. also consider visiting this link for more help. click on to http://www.themouthdoctor.com and prevent the progression of periodontal disease.
Reply:well you should floss more often..also go see your orthodontist which would not hurt for you to get more tips.also, try not to pick the gums but rather leave it alone and be careful when you brush so that you do not brush too hard on your gums and they too start bleeding..
