i guess bleeding out of my gum will help the imflamory gums somehow. anyone know about this?
I got braces and they were telling me that i need to brush until my gum bleeds because its imflamatory??
i do and its funny i have braces and i have inflamed gums too! what it is is that when you clean your teeth you need to clean your gums as well cause they may become infected. my dentist said to me that my gums maybe inflamed because may braces get in the way. when you clean your gums for the first few times they will bleed. but after that the bleeding shouldn't be that bad.
Reply:no sorry.
Reply:that sounds stupid, i wouldnt
Reply:That is ridiculous, I had braces for three years and never got that memo. You should brush your gums gently, don't abuse them. Is your dentist a crackhead??
Reply:No..i never heard of this :S....when u brush to the point where ur gum starts bleeding? Doesn't sound good to me!
Reply:yes the more u brush the less ur gums will bleed cos ur gums get healthier
Reply:i think what your dentist means is that because you wear braces plaque accumulation is greater and this causes irritation and inflammation of the gums- gingivitis. gingivitis causes the gums to bleed when brushing. bleeding gums are a sign that there is active disease present. so when you brush your teeth do not worry if the gums bleed, this is ok. it is only by brushing well that the disease will go and the bleeding eventually stop.
Reply:i agree with the first guy....when ur gums are infection the only way to rid of it is by brushing because the only other thing going in ur mouth to break that layer of gingiva to release the inflamation is food, and hows that sound? ur gums are strong they can handle it..magnified they resemble an orange peel...
Reply:they told me the same thing and i did it for about the first couple of days but then i just stopped. i now just brush my teeth normaly and gently of the gums;.
Reply:This is true when i got my braces they told me the same thing and u do have to brush untill ur gums bleed because it will get the plaque or it will stay there till ur teeth rot and no on eeants that lolz.
