I'm a teen with bad brushing habits. My New Years resolution was to make them better. I think I may have took it over board. I was brushing my teeth and gums and after the last few days my gums have been killing me. If that area of the gums touches anything it hurts ALOT. The area is under my back teeth on the gums, not the gums against the teeth but lower then that. I think I may have brushed to hard. Ive been reading that your not even supposed to brush that low but just half the brush on the tooth and the other half on the gums.
So in conclusion my questions are the following,
Did I brush to hard?
Will they heal?
How long?
Was I not supposed to brush down there?
THANKS!
Brushed Gums To hard?
By brushing your teeth too hard and with anything other than a soft-bristled toothbrush, you can abrade your gums and wear away your enamel, which will lead to sensitivity and gum recession.
Here's a link giving you directions on the most commonly-recommended method of brushing:

If you want to take better care of your teeth, be sure to get your teeth cleaned every 6 months or so, brush at least twice a day and floss once a day. (If you can't floss every day, at least 3 times a week - that's better than none)
: )
Reply:use a Soft bristle brush and rinse with warm salt water after every brushing,
one teaspoon per cup of water
Reply:You shouldn't even be brushing your gums. You should brush your teeth and tongue..that's it. You caused your gum to become inflamed and it's going to hurt for a few days. You can put orajel or abosol on the sensitive area and stop brushing there. You should also be using a soft bristle brush....NEVER use hard bristles. It will probably start feeling better within a few days, I highly doubt you did any real harm just irritated it.
Reply:this isn't about yer question, but
