most of the times when i brush my teeth .. my gums bleed .. lately i changed toothpaste and started using one with baking soda in it and i noticed my gums didnt bleed at all .. and i use mouth wash regularly..so i was just wondering if i should check with my dentist or change either my toothbrush or toothpaste ..
Bleeding gums?
Most commercial toothpastes should not cause bleeding gums.
I wonder if you might have either:
1) Gingivitis, which is inflammation of the gums due to a build up of plaque at the gum line. You did not mention whether you floss or not. In addition to regular brushing and the mouthwash, you should also floss daily to remove food debris and plaque from near the gums.
2) It is possible you may be brushing too hard (too much pressure on the brush) or you are using bristles that are too hard for your gums.
Hope that helps.
Reply:See your dentist. If you lose your teeth to gum disease, they will not grow back. It is not worth the gamble.
Reply:you should go to your dentist to check you gum condition to make sure it is healthy. Because sometime bacteria can hide underneath the gum and do more further damage without notice.
Reply:mine bleed also, if you are a teen, people say its normal. if you are aged 30-45 have it checked. you may lack vitamins. if you are way old, then it COULD be normal. how strong you brush also determines it.
Reply:Its from pyorrhea or sore gums from not brushing and FLOSSING enough. Using the mouthwash is probably what cleared it up. Keep brushing, flossing, and using the mouthwash. You should also see a dentist to make sure you don't have a cavity or ulcer or abscess and get your teeth cleaned. Also an electric toothbrush will help. Change toothbrushs often.
Reply:Your gums should never bleed! Bleeding gums -- regardless of the possible cause -- is something that you should alert your dentist to during your next check-up.
Reply:Sounds like gingivitis..go see your dentist=)

Reply:change your toothbrush
brush lighter
if things don't go back to normal in 2 days, see a dentist
make sure your mouth is clean though, sometimes infection in there can happen
Reply:Gingivitis try brushing in a 45 degree angle and after you eat.
Reply:yea i would go to ur dentist. i had the same problem and they gave me a special mouth wash to use and toothpaste...but keep using the toothpaste with baking soda
Reply:Do both. I also recommend chewing an apple daily for at least one month. This helps to massage the gums. Floss and baking soda in your toothbrush are very helpful.
