How does your gums feel or look after getting your braces off?

My dentist told me before I got my braces taken off that my gums will feel funny. She also advised me to brush under the gums for a least a month before going for a cleaning. I just got the braces off last week, and my gums look really weird to me. Did this happen to you?

Sometimes they may feel a little rough, that's due to some of the bonding is still in place and may need to be smoothed or polish away. The gums could be red and puffy, due to not be able to floss as well as people without braces. All this can be changed with a trip to the dentist to have your teeth professionally cleaned and examined. You may have to get on a mind antibiotic for the puffiness in the gums. Reply:They should look and feel no different. It will be alot easier to brush your teeth and keep thos gums healthy too.

Reply:The reason that your gums look weird is because they are probably inflammed. This happens because its difficult to brush with brackets on and the plaque irritates your gums. Make sure you brush in gentle circles part way on the tooth and part way on the gums. And floss at least 3 times a week if not everyday. It might be uncomfortable at first--but you should notice an improvement within a week. You can get your teeth cleaned whenever--you don't have to wait. It would probably help speed the healing of your gums to have the hygienist get off the tarter that may be on your teeth.
Reply:look i had braces it suck i know but after u get them off u gums are relly sore and hut and are poffy and belive me it wont feel right for atleast a week and it will be very weir to eat and drink but ull get over it trus me
