Do gums heal?

I accidently bit into a chip and it cut into my gums under my tongue. Can those gums heal? About how long does it take? and is their some way to speed up the process?

Do gums heal?
Of course you'll heal!

Rinsing with warm salt water can't hurt... try not to eat anything crusty for a few days so the area won't be more irritated.. and anything cold (ice cream) will help soothe the area until you're all better!
Reply:You can rinse with salt water. That seems to help it heal quickly. You should feel better in 3-5 days. Yes, gums will heal.
Reply:Yes gums do heal. And it pays to take care of your gums. Do your gums bleed or do you have any other gum problems? Gum bleeding can lead to heart attacks, strokes, and for pregnant women, a greater likelihood to give birth prematurely. I've found this really great product that takes care of my gums on daily basis -- periotherapy. I found it in this blog that has a lot of information on oral hygiene -- http://blog.therabreath.com. The link to the product and article are below.
