Puffy gums?

yea i have really puffy gums that look horrible i brush and floss and i just went to my dentist and she said my teeth were clean so whats wrong with my gums?

did the dentist or hygienist not say anything about your puffy gums?


rinse with listerine - kills germs.... be careful not to brush your gums with your toothbrush - that can cause trauma to the gums and thus swelling....


do you gums hurt or bleed easily? that is usually a sign of gingivitis (itis =swelling - gingiva= gums). if it is that - get it taken care of - it can become infected - and then you get a whole nother set of problems.


I would call the dentist office and ask them about it - there may be notes in the chart about what they observed, and they may have ideas for you or see you again and look into the problem further.

Reply:i used to smoke and my gums were awful and puffy





after quitting, they went back to normal after a few years. yes, it took years to reverse the damage that smoking caused.





are you a smoker? if so, quit. quit asap.
Reply:Maybe they're just puffy? If a dentist didn't raise any issues to you, it's probably just the way they are. Sorry!
