my bottom gums hurt and i've tried gargling with warm salt water and i'm still in pain. i wanna go to the dentist but i'm afraid of what he'll do to fix the problem... has anyone had gum pain and gone to the dentist? and what did the dentist do?
My gums are killing me and I'm afraid to visit the dentist?!?
Use medicated toothpaste....Senseoform or so...
Do not put salt water and gorgle...it will increase the pain...
Clove oil will help relieve the pain.
If you go to the dentist, he will prescribe
pain killers such as Imol and
antibiotic such as Novaclox....
They also work well.
Wish you speedy recovery
regards
Reply:for the fear of the DENTIST killing UR PURSE!!!!
Reply:Go to the dentist before this problem gets worse than it already is. Fear of seeing the dentist is a rational one, but you need to conquer it for your health and well being. If you aren't comfortable with your dentist, in America we have something called 1-800-dentist that will help you find the right one for you after you've described your symptoms to them.
I personally haven't gone through what you are, but I also have a very real fear (almost terror!) of dentists so when I contacted this # years ago, they were a great help and now, while I still don't like going to the dentist, I'm not terrified either.
Best of luck to you, hope it's nothing too serious!
Reply:If your gums hurt you probably have a build-up of food debris and bacteria (calculus/tartar) under the gums that can only be removed by a professional cleaning by a Dental Hygienist or Dentist. If this calcified deposit remains on your teeth and roots the gums will become increasingly infected which in turn will cause the bone to shrink away until ultimately the teeth become loose due to lack of bone support. The best way to prevent this is to have regular dental appointments and cleanings. Unfortunately, if you have already lost significant bone support we can't give you a pill that will build bone by these teeth, however, with good oral hygiene and regular dental cleanings we can stop the migration of the bone and maintain you where you currently are.
Reply:I assume it has been awhile since you have gone to a dentist. Firstly what they should do is take xrays of all of your teeth to see a better aspect of what might be going on. Secondly he/she will do different tests on your gums called a periodontal probe this is not comfortable but it is not painful. The Dr will do a dental exam which he/she will detect any problems. This appointment is the best time to discuss your fears, problems, finances, and how they handle patients like yourself. See if they have nitrous oxide which is a form of gas that makes you somewhat mellow. Today the dentist should not be as bad as it use to be.
You really need to now worry the pain will not go away until you know what the actual problem is. Hope this helps
