Swollen gums and pregnancy?

This morning when i was brushing my teeth i noticed that my gums were bleeding quite a bit. when i looked closer i noticed how swollen they were. i was at the dentist less than 2 weeks ago and everything was fine and i am very prompt with brushing my teeth, flossing, and using mouthwash. are bleeding or swollen gums just part of pregnancy?

Swollen gums and pregnancy?
It is totally normal. Your blood volume has increased and your gums become more sensitive.

It sounds like you need to get a book such as "The Pregnancy Book" by Dr. Sears or sign up at a free pregnancy website such as www.babycenter.com or www.justmommies.com so you know what to expect and what is perfectly normal.
Reply:Phone your dentist! Tell them you're pregnant and having some issues with your gums. I've always been told that pregnant women have to be careful with their teeth because pregnancy can affect your mouth.
Reply:yes it is a part of pregnancy... and seeing that you have been to the dentist here recently you shouldn't worry just try brushing with a softer brush and using mouth wash just try and make sure you don't swallow any of it
Reply:Yep, it's totally normal (I've heard it referred to as "red toothbrush"). In fact, when I was at the dentist a few weeks ago, she commented that my gums were in pretty good shape "for a pregnant woman!". Since you just went to the dentist two weeks ago, you really don't have anything to worry about. You should mention it to your ob/gyn at the next appointment, but the important thing is that you did have a dentist appointment during the pregnancy.
Reply:have u ever thought u were brushing them to hard
Reply:This is soooooo normal. I had it with both of my pregnancies. Even the dentist said it is very common.
Reply:Hi, just to maybe put your mind at rest my gums bleed all the time when Im brushing. It is very common i'm told!
Reply:Call the dentist and ask them. Bleeding gums are just a part of pregnancy, but mine have never been swollen.
Reply:Yes, this is a normal part of pregnancy. You are supposed to have a cleaning once your deliver, because it takes such a toll on your mouth.
Reply:yes you tend to have more dental and visual problems while pregnancy due to the raise in harmones.
Reply:Oral Sex?
