Is there anything you can do for shrinking gums?
I go to the dentist every 4 months, floss 2 times a day and brush 3 times a day. I also use Crest Pro Health mouthwash.
The dentist says my gums are better but I still think they are shrinking.
Shrinking Gums?
If you don't feel like you are getting good enough advice from your family dentist, I would have a consultation from a Periodontist (Gum specialist). A Periodontist may suggest a load of un-necessary work to be done, which is why I suggest the you refer all his plans back to your regular dentist to discuss before following through with any work. If the problem is what I think it is, ask about or look up 'Gum grafting' and see where that goes. Good luck.
Reply:Nice tight, gums that are pink and dimpled are a sign of health. I think you mean receding gums. If your gums are red and swollen then you want them to shrink to a nice healthy state. If your gums have receded then you can have them cosmetically altered through various type of surgery. Contact a periodontist for a consultation. Be prepared for the sticker shock.
