Bleeding gums?

Has anyone else experienced bleeding gums in early pregnancy. I am hoping to have a positive test and this morning for no reason my gums started bleeding all along my top teeth while driving my child to school. Any ideas if this could be a sign?

Bleeding gums?
Hi there.

I worked for a dentist and yes, it is common in pregnant women. Unfortunately, when you're pregnant, your body is immune to all kinds of diseases. This one would be a gum disease.

I would reccomend gargling salt water at least 2/3 times a day and maybe getting a tooth brush with softer bristles.

If this persists and you are worried, please consult your dentist.

:)
Reply:It is more likely a sign of gingivitis. You need a scale and polish.
Reply:I used to not brush my teeth, my orthodontist delayed treatment because i had bleeding gums, my bleeding gums was because i did not brush my teeth (%26gt;%26lt;) when brushing you should be massaging your gums gently with your brush (not with hard bristles) i dont know if this is the case, but yea..
Reply:this is not a good sign. may be it is caused by dis balanced platelet ts in your blood. it is not also good for your baby so don't delay it go to your doctor
Reply:I did/do experience bleeding gums occasionally due to the increased blood flow you have while pregnant. However, for me, this didn't start until I was in my second trimester and was only if I brushed my teeth and gums too hard.

I haven't heard of it being an early pregnancy sign/symptom, but it is different for every woman. I'd be a little concerned though if your gums just randomly started bleeding.
Reply:You have an infection.

Try Corsydol mouthwash.

A trip to the dentist would help, if you are lucky enough to have an NHS dentist that is.
Reply:Well its fact that your unborn baby will take all your calcium so you have to make sure your getting enough for yourself and baby, but to bleed for no reason, Could be down to lack of calcium from been pregnant, but bleeding gums is also a sign of gum disease....Either way both can be treated perfectly safely, so dont worry...Enjoy your pregnancy....Go to your dentist and he will reasure you....I promise...xx
Reply:Its worth having a dental check up if you are pregnant. I suffered from bleeding gums during early pregnancy, but i was told that it was a common complaint at this time!
Reply:Yeah my gums were bleeding the other morning just after i had brushed them, they have never done this before so it wasn't down to brushing. Oh and Ive just found out I'm pregnant today so that must have been what it was!!!!!!
Reply:Everyone always says that it has something to do with gingivitis, but in fact I too have experienced this with my last pregnancy and I experienced this last week and I am currently 3 days late for my period. I will be testing tomorrow morning. Some people say that it could be sign as the blood builds up in a female's body to carry the baby. I hope you get what you are looking for. When are you due?
