Bruised Gums...?

What does it mean when gums are bruised. My boyfriend was in a minor car crash and hit his teeth on the steering wheel. His gums are now bruised, does this mean his teeth are going to fall out? He seems to think so, is there anything to do to prevent this or other long term damage it may cause?

Bruised Gums...?
its better to chk it up wth a dentist...n taking an x-ray to confirm dat there is no harm like fracture or pulpal death to the teeth...if any of this is present ,then the teeth can b saved onli by rct or some other procedure...but to knw wat has realli happened...u shud chk it up wth ur dentist asap...

all the best...
Reply:u think his gums are bruised coz they've turned purple?becoz of the trauma..there might have been some bleeding from under the gums.what u need to do is,check if the teeth are moving.check if he's feeling sensitive or pain on any teeth.check the alignment of the teeth n see if there is any change.if any of em is yes,he needs to see a dentist right away.sometimes, the tooth might 'die' after trauma but after a long time.thats whn it'll grey or black.
Reply:This is a case of oral trauma, and hence to prevent any further damage to your teeth, visit your dentist. You will probably need xrays to evaluate the status of your teeth. If his teeth start discoloring they are initial signs of damage to teeth and probably will need root canal treatment.

Dont worry, the field of dentistry is so advanced that the fallen out teeth can also be put back, and if its just a bruise in the gum, there is nothing much to worry about!
